Dad's Tomahawk Heads
Check out these tomahawk heads my dad has. His great grandfather (or maybe it was great-great grandfather) dug them up while plowing in a Missouri field back in the 1840's. No telling how old they are. I'd like to find out what tribes once resided in that area of Missouri.

Maybe the Cherokee (sp?). I know they where big in Missouri...I can't recall the rest of the tribes at the current time...it's been a while since Missouri History (and YES, states other than Texas have state history...HA! I know a lot of Texans think it is only them...HA!)
Wow, those are neat. Only thing I've ever been lucky enough to find is an arrowhead but I lost that long ago.
the tribes that were in missouri historically probably aren't the same ones that were there pre-contact, there seems to be sort of a lull in there for a while...
The Cherokee are still in southern MO, but they're a recent add on as part of the trail of tears. The Oto and the Osage were in the area early in the historic period, and the Illinois stopped in for a bit too, along with some other groups.

Thank you all for your comments! Kim, that is cool to know -- that states other than Texas have history, too ;) . ha ha. Joshua, that's cool about the arrowhead (even though you lost it). I don't have much luck in finding things like that either. Barrett n' Megan, you seem to know quite a bit about of history. That is really cool. You are probably right about there being different tribes now.

Tomahawk heads are very strong and durable, it is considered as a tactical nuclear weapons system. On the old age people get fire by this material. Thanks a lot.
